Article: Gorlosa unveils statue of first Dimasa chief priest” 

Highlights:

  • According priority to the traditional culture and heritage of the indigenous people living in the district, Chief Executive Member of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Debolal Gorlosa ceremoniously unveiled the statue of Gisiya Wagurdao Jidungsa, the first chief priest among the Dimasas, at Basabari near Maibang town.
  • Each of the priests was gifted with a portrait of the first chief priest, a Dimasa traditional sword (sheng), a brass bowl (bela), a brass tumbler (aara) and a holy piece of cloth (rithar) used by Dimasa priests. Gaonburas and Mouzadars from the nearby villages were also present in the programme that also saw felicitation of artiste Lakheswar Bodo and his team.
