- The city ranked 312th in the Swachh Survekshan-2021, while it had obtained the 356th rank in 2020 and 303rd rank in the same category in 2019.
- Lunglei in Mizoram was declared as the cleanest city in the Northeast in the 50,000-1, 00,000 population category.
- In the 1 to 10 lakh population category, under which major cities and capitals of NE comes, Silchar is the cleanest in the region ranking 283rd followed by Dibrugarh (321), Aizawl (326), Guwahati (342), Imphal (347), Shillong 348, Agartala (355) and Nagaon (360).
