  • Gaan-Ngai, the post-harvest festival of the Zeliangrong community, got under way in Manipur. The festival is celebrated for five to seven days depending on localities.
  • Gaan-Ngai (Gaan or Ganh means winter or dry season, and Ngai means festival) which marks the end of the year when farmers store food grains in the granaries, begins on the 13th day of ‘Wakching’, a Manipuri month which falls between December and January.
